Jazz Band
  The Jazz Band is fresh off of a performance in Greeley at the 2010 UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival.  It was the groups first major festival and they performed well.  We weren't in a very large venue so our FULL SOUNDING style was a bit overblown in the smaller room.  Oh Well!  We played well and came home Friday evening with two "EXCELLENT" ratings from our two judges.  One of those was almost a "SUPERIOR".  It established a benchmark for next years' Jazz Band so hopefully, now that we know what to expect, we can surpass this effort.  About 2/3rds of the band stuck around to hear other sessions and other bands' performances, some of which were just flat out unbelievable!


   So far this year the group has entertained audiences for the Fall Super Kid reception, the Honor Roll assembly, the Marching Band awards celebration and our December Christmas Concert.  For Second semester, the Band was the featured entertainment in the February 2nd Basketball game halftime show! The audience really enjoyed the different sound of the group.  We also performed at Broomfield Heights Middle School on April 9th at an assembly there which also featured the Winter Guard.  The kids were especially entertained as the "guard" taught some of the audience members a "MICRO" routine and were then provided music to perform with by the Jazz Band.  The most important thing about the impromptu performances was that no one got WHACKED!  Phew!

  The May Concert (Senior Showcase) featured the songs that we performed at the Greeley Jazz Festival (April 23rd) which were KILLER TUNES!  We played favorites like: "Sing, Sing, Sing" and introduced a new swing tune titled "Follow my Lead."  We also provided the Pre-Concert music for the May 11th All-City Concert which featured 5th grade, 7th grade and High School musicians in their separate ensembles. They all (300+ musicians) came together for the closer which was "THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!" 

   The Band was honored to be the featured entertainment at the Boulder Valley School Districts' Retirement Dinner at the Broomfield Omni Hotel on May 6th.

  We're fresh off of a 7AM performance on May 19th at the grand opening of the NEW WAL-MART on 120th.  It was cool and breezy but the band somehow stayed in tune and entertained the early morning GRAND OPENING crowd!
